A teaching strategy is the WAY we teach the content of the curriculum. These range from teacher-led (explicit) instruction to independent learning. My aim as your childs teacher is to gradually withdraw my level of support as their knowledge and skills develop, and encourage them to become independent and confident learners. This is also known as scaffolding and the Gradual release of responsibility technique (San Juan Board of Cooperative Educational Services, 2013).

 

On the right-hand side of the page is a number of strategies and theories that I utillise in the classroom. With the integration of ICTs in the classroom I am able to utilise these, as well as a number of differentiation strategies to deliver lessons that accommodate each child's learning needs and preferred styles.

 

 

What this means for your children...

 

The class is made up of students who prefer to learn in a variety of different ways. Some learn best through visual displays, others through the kinaesthetic method of doing and others through the auditory method of hearing the information (Heritage College Video, 2009) .

 

With the help of ICT integration I am able to simultaneously teach all three learning styles and maximise student engagment. The Interactive whitebaord allows the visual learners to see what they are learning; an iPad can be used to read the information to the audiatory learners; whilst the kinaesthetic learners can use an app on the iPad to do the activity, manipulating the components as necessasry.

Learning through eperiences, where knwoledge is gained through doing.

PLAY-BASED LEARNING

a context for learning through which children organise and make sense of their social worlds, as they engage actively with people, objects and representations.

PLACE-BASED LEARNING

Takes students out in to the communities, to learn, to do and to grow as human beings. Students are given the opportunity to learn subject matter in deep and lasting ways, understand the places they live in.
